AMY is the founder and visionary at Bodies in Balance. As the captain of our ship, Amy offers physical therapy services, bodywork, and nutrition counseling. Amy graduated from St. Scholastica with a bachelor's in health science and a minor in psychology in 1994 and a master's in physical therapy in 1995. She is also a certified Nutritional Physical Therapist.

Amy has worked in private practice for 25 years and opened Bodies in Balance in 2008. She treats patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and works extensively with babies, kids, and prenatal and postnatal moms.

I’m trained in Pilates and have a keen interest in postural restoration and bodywork. Private practice is patient-centric, and I love that! I'm passionate about individualized treatment that addresses the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. I have a manual therapy background and a holistic mindset.

When she’s not helping her patients get back to the activities they love, Amy enjoys spending time on her hobby farm with her husband, James, and their two young kids, making memories with their four grown kids and granddaughter, and investing in people in need. She also loves gardening, hiking, and camping.

RUTH is our office manager and bookkeeper. She’s the glue that holds us together!

Ruth leverages her organizational skills to stay on top of payments and billing, scheduling, and payroll. She keeps the office running smoothly for our staff and clients. Her friendly demeanor helps make Bodies in Balance a warm and inviting place for everyone who comes through the door.

It’s a fast-paced environment. I enjoy supporting our amazing staff and getting to know members of our community through both the physical therapy side of the business and through the fitness center.

When she’s not working in the office, Ruth enjoys camping, planting flowers, and spending time with her family.

ANNIE is one of our physical therapists and serves our clients using a manual therapy and exercise-based approach to healing. She graduated from St. Scholastica with a B.S. in exercise physiology in 2019 and her doctorate in physical therapy in 2022.

Annie loves helping people get back to their passions and live pain-free.

I enjoy working with all kinds of patients, including people with chronic health issues and those who've sustained injuries or been in accidents. I'm interested in dance medicine and specialize in helping dancers recover from hip issues. I treat holistically and provide information to patients on the musculoskeletal system and pain neuroscience.

When she’s not working at Bodies in Balance, Annie loves to sing and dance and enjoys hiking with her husband, Peter, and their dog, Finn.

EDI is our insurance biller. She works hard behind the scenes so our clients can focus on their wellness journeys.

Edi was introduced to insurance billing while working as a dental assistant. She realized how much she enjoyed it and has helped Amy with billing for 16 years! Her communication skills, organizational abilities, and persistence make her a tremendous asset to Bodies in Balance.

I research each client's insurance and, if they have coinsurance or a copay, I let them know how much they will be responsible for. If visits or services aren’t covered, I get to the bottom of what's going on. I love advocating for our clients!

When she’s not working on billing, Edi enjoys quilting, tending to her flower beds, and spending time with her grandchildren.

SHAELYN is one of our physical therapy assistants, bodywork specialists, and personal trainers. She graduated from St. Scholastica with a B.S. in psychology in 2019 and continued at Lake Superior College, where she received her PTA licensure in 2022.

Shaelyn is a healer by nature, working with even the most complex patients to help them get out of pain and back to the activities they love. She also enjoys working with children and providing wellness services in our fitness center.

I want people to have a safe place to come to. I don’t want them to be ashamed of what they’re dealing with health-wise, and I think it’s important to validate people’s feelings. I always leave space for conversation and relationship building.

When she’s not hard at work serving her clients, Shaelyn loves to hunt, fish, train for half marathons, and spend time with her dog, Lindy, and her fiancé, Alex.

MINDY is our administrator and marketing coordinator. She graduated in 2001 with a degree in English from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She has vast experience as a content writer in the marketing industry, writing for a wide swath of clients, and has more recently pursued freelance work.

Mindy brings her love of writing, organizing, and executing to educate the world about what we do and why we do it and keep us moving forward.

I’m passionate about wellness and believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Coming alongside this amazing team and championing the life-changing services they provide in our community is truly a joy. I have the best job!

When she’s not updating our social media channels or creating fresh content to market our products and services, you can find Mindy outdoors hiking, kayaking, camping, XC skiing, snowshoeing, or boating with her family. She resides in Duluth with her college sweetheart, three amazing teenagers, and two (mostly) obedient dogs.
